A Career of Service

Judge Jaret Usher was appointed to the Cobb State Court bench in January of 2022. Prior to her appointment, Judge Usher previously served Cobb County as a law clerk in Cobb Superior Court and as a prosecuting attorney in both the Cobb Solicitor General's Office and the Cobb County District Attorney's Office. Judge Usher also served as the Prosecutorial Liaison and the Division Director for the Legal Division at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Kennesaw State University and her Juris Doctorate from Regent University School of Law. Judge Usher is a Cobb County native where she resides with her husband and two children.

As a Cobb County native, and a parent who is raising a family here, Judge Jaret Usher loves this community. That is why she has devoted her professional career to service. As a law clerk in Cobb County Superior Court, a prosecuting attorney in the Solicitor General’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office of Cobb County, the Prosecutorial Liaison and Legal Division Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and now as a State Court Judge in Division II, Judge Usher has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to seek justice for all under the law, to fairness and to efficiency.

Judge Usher understands that being a judge is a position of trust - not entitlement. That is why she strives daily to honor that trust by ensuring those who come before her are treated with dignity and respect.

As a State Court Judge in the traffic division, she understands court can be stressful, especially for those who have never experienced the legal system before. Therefore, Judge Usher is dedicated to ensuring her court operates with the utmost professionalism and consideration. Judge Usher takes her role of being a public servant seriously and endeavors to give back to the community that has given so much to her. Whether it be serving in her role as judge, or through her church and other civic organizations, Judge Usher strives to bring passion to public service to make Cobb County a great place to live, work and play.

Like the rest of her career, Judge Usher will continue to work hard, with integrity, every day for the people of Cobb County.
